A 3D Printer Can Regenerate Bones

A team of researchers from the Washington University (USA) began to use a 3D printer that can create bones with a material very similar to the bone tissue. According to scientists it could help repair injuries.

Currently this kind of printers have been used to create prosthetics. This new equipment generates a substance that can attach to the damaged bone. Scientists discovered this material when the found a way to bend the ceramic powder with a mix up of ingredients that include calcium phosphate mixed with silica and zinc oxide.

The process itself consists in fixing the damaged bone with an original copy through several printed layers. The creators expect to be able to use this machine from 10 to 20 years. (AV)
