USA Experts Support Medicine that Helps to Prevent Aids

The anti-viral committee of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has decided that the medicine Truvada, which is currently being used in Aid treatments, must be approved as a preventive method against the infection for this virus.

Stephanie Yao, spokeswoman of the agency informed that this is the first time that health assessors of the United States government support an antiviral medicine for healthy people that its exposed to HIV through sexual encounters.

According to Yao, the full approval of the medicine is up to the FDA that is expected on June 15. However, the agency has not confirmed the date.

The medication is a combination of two antiretroviral medicines called tenofovir and emtricitabine. During control board of FDA it was concluded that this medicine was safe to use as a preventive medicine against Aids. (AV)
