Posted On 11 May 2012

Pablo Chambers, Víctor Hugo Hidalgo, Gerardo Portilla and José Quishpe, all of them except Hidalgo, requested political asylum in the Embassy of Costa Rica.

Observers of the contracts of Ecuadorian President’s brother, Fabricio Correa, sought asylum in the Embassy of Costa Rica.

Today, at around 10:00 am (GTM), Paul Chambers, Gerardo Portillo and Jose Quishpe came to the Embassy with the idea of seeking asylum to “protect” themselves from the trial that the local government has started against them.

The process arose because the observers said President Rafael Correa knew about the contracts that Fabricio Correa had signed with the state. (FL)
