Eastern China, Shanghai Assaulted by Typhoon

This Wednesday, a typhoon slammed China’s eastern coast, flooding its out roads and knocked out power and disrupted transportation and disrupted one of the nations most populous regions.

According to Xinhua News Agency the heavy rains damaged bridges and houses of many people, but there are no casualties. Typhoon Haikui came ashore in Zhejiang province with strong winds of 150 kph, but it was weakening.

In Zhejiang, 12 towns lost their energy, while the flooding left at least 130 people stranded in three hotels in Lin’an city. The China Meteorological Administration had issued a red alert for Typhoon Haikui, the highest alert so far this year.

More than 1,8 million people were evacuated from the most populated areas of Shanghai and Zhejiang. (AV)
