After the 68th General Assembly of the Inter American Press Society (SIP for its Spanish acronym) asked more tolerance to the media to the governments of Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Cuba, among others.

SIP made hard accusations and urged the countries to stop using “maneuvers” to limit the free speech, through new bills for the media, or judicial “persecutions” against journalists.

The entity criticized harshly the information that “continues to be extremely limited” by the president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner. Afterwards it complained about the cases made by journalists in Venezuela. Regarding Ecuador, SIP pointed out that “the justice grows impartially and continues to assault the media and journalists under hostile speeches,” it also called the government of Rafael Correa and the officials of the Ecuadorian State to make decisions that “respect” the Inter American Democratic Charter and the National Constitution.
