“Gangnam Style” generated more than $8 millions in advertising

PSY on Youtube
Google’s vice president, Nikesh Arora, announced on Tuesday that the YouTube page with the South Korean rapper Psy’s song ‘Gangnam Style’ generated more than $8 million of publicity.
The advertising’ gains on YouTube are divided between the artists and the firm. It seems that Psy earned more millions with the digital downloading, advertising contracts and other services.
Last December ‘Gangnam Style’ became the first video to exceed 1.000 million views. According to the views counter, the video has been watched 1.230 million times since it was posted last July.
Park Jae-Sang, Psy’s real name, is today a hero in South Korea and received the Okgwan Order of Cultural Merit which is one of the most honorific distinctions in his country.
Kevin Allocca, in charge of YouTube tendencies explains that the success is because of the “universal taste for catchy music with… big equestrian dance moves.” (JBM)
