The Pope Francisco was in Ecuador
The new elected Pope Francisco, former Bishop of Buenos Aires (Argentina), was in Ecuador and did several visits to inspect the various Jesuit schools such as the San Francisco Javier de Guayaquil, Portoviejo Cristo Rey, San Gabriel and San Luis Gonzaga de Quito, San Felipe de Borja of Cuenca and Riobamba.
After having visites these seven institutions, the once he liked the most was the colegio Javier, therefore he said that he would send young Argentine Jesuits to have the experience of priestly magistrate in Guayaquil.
His visits were sporadic, never stayed in Ecuador more than one week. “He came to do his thing, was very clear. When he had a goal he tried to fulfill it, there was no tourism,”said Fabricio Alaña, current principal of the colegio Javier, founded by the Jesuit father Alfonso Villalba, already deceased.
