Emelec defeats Peñarol and embraces the classification

Posted On 03 Apr 2013

The ‘electric’ goals were scored by the Argentine Cristian Nasuti (81 minutes) and the Ecuadorian Fernando Gaibor (90 + 5).

Emelec defeats 2 – 0 to Peñarol

Emelec added 9 points to place second in the scoreboard, behind Argentina’s Velez Sarsfield (12, already classified) and above Peñarol (6) and the Chilean Deportes Iquique (3 eliminated).

The Blues achieved a suffered victory with the annotations of Nasuti, who at 81 minutes scored with a head shot  from a free kick of  Pedro Quiñonez, and Gaibor, who scored the second goal at minute 90+5 with also a free kick to the left of the goal defended by Enrique Bologna

In the sixth and last date of the key, scheduled for April 9, Penarol will recieve Iquique and Vélez will play against Emelec, which will ensure the pass for the second round with a tie. The Blues know that a defeat against Velez would open the window to the results between Uruguayans and Chileans.

‘The Fortin’ Velez Sarsfield sealed their passport to the next round  by defeating the ‘light blue Dragons’ 3-1 on Tuesday.
