A day like today, 75 years ago was released the first edition of the graphic novel of Superman, by Action Comics.

American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian artist Joe Shuster gave life to this iconic character, which at first was thought as a villain. Over time, the concept was evolving until its final product turned him into a superhero born on planet Krypton and raised on earth by an earthling marriage.

According to the story, Superman was found on a spaceship in the town of Smallville (Kansas, U.S.) by a married couple with no children, who decided to adopt him. He grows under the identity of Clark Kent and lives in this village until his youth, where he meets his first love, Lana Lang, and Lex Luthor, who later becomes his enemy. After a long journey to discover his true identity, Clark decides to go to live in Metropolis city where he finds work as a journalist at the Daily Planet and also his greatest love, Lois Lane. His only weakness is Kryptonite.

The story of the only superhero whose secret identity is being a human has remained to this day in the comics. It has also been brought to the radio, television, video games and films, played by the legendary Christopher Reeve for four times and on one occasion by actor Brandon Routh.
