Ecuador without clues on the alleged massacre against the Taromenanes
The Minister of Justice, Johana Pesantez, said that Ecuador has not found traces of the alleged attack of the Huoarani against the Taromemanes on March 29, a tribe living in voluntary isolation in the Amazon.
“We have done all the aerial and ground patrols necessary to the investigation of the case, and so far it has failed to find any corpse that supports this slaughter against the peoples in voluntary isolation,” said the official in an interview with the public channel Gama TV.
Bickering between both ethnic groups were raised after on March 5, near the village of Yarentaro (in the province of Orellana), a huaorani leader and his wife died speared allegedly by the taromenanes.
For this reason, the Huaorani stated having attacked the taromenanes in retaliation in an attack that would have left as a result 30 dead, according to the President of the Huaorani nationality (NAWE), Cawetipe Yeti.
