Ecuador ended April with inflation at 0.18%, down from 0.44% in March, said Tuesday the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC).
Annual inflation stood at 3.03% while the cumulative stood at 1.31%, according to the INEC. Inflation in April, said the Institute, responded primarily to price increases in the field of education, recreation and culture, as well as miscellaneous goods and services.
The cost of the basic food basket in April was $ 605.52. Ecuador, which has the dollar economy since 2000, closed 2012 with an inflation rate of 4.16%, according to INEC.
