SRI expropiated a property from Banananera Noboa this morning

During a press conference, the head of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Carlos Marx Carrasco announced the seizure of the property “La Clementina”,  own by Bananera Noboa.

According to Marx Carrasco, the 11,500 hectare land, located in the province of Los Rios, would be auctioned  to cover the debt that Banananera Noboa has with the tax  regulator of more than $ 100 million in income tax for the fiscal year of 2005.

In the seizure, which began at 6:00 am, were involves 200 people, including policemen, members of the GOE, GIR, military and IRS authorities. Within the coercive process, the company has appointed a custodian of the goods, who is responsible for the custody, administration, issuing of reports to the tax collector and the survey and appraisal of the estate auction.
