“My family is here and I want to be buried here, in the house,” were the statements of Nelson Mandela in 2003, referring to his home in the village of Qunu.
That’s why the family of former South African president prepared a meeting yesterday in the old house that Madiba built after his release, located in the small town where he spent his childhood.
One of his daughters and several grandchildren arrived at the home of the anti-apartheid former militant.
“It’s a AmaDlomo meeting,” said one participant who requested anonymity, referring to a branch of the Thembu clan, to which the Mandela family belong.
Although no family member gave official versions, rumor has it about the place in where Mandela is going to be buried. However, some relatives prefer to buried him in Mvezo, his native village, located about 40 km from Qunu.
According to the version of the South African government, Nelson Mandela’s official spokesman, said that the former president is in a critical health condition and doctors and family have tried to make their last moments of his life as painless as possible and in a peaceful environment
