Illuminated Virgin attracts thousands of devout Catholics

According to Croatian media publications, an image of Virgin Mary that allegedly begin to emanate light from it has attracted thousands of faithful Catholics since last Monday on the Croatian-Bosnian Marian shrine of Medjugorje in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina.

This supernatural event occurred in the home of Vicka Ivanovic, who is part of the so-called six “child seers” who in 1981 had the appearance of the Virgin Mary on a hill in Medjugorje. Since then, this place has become a shrine visited every year by thousands of faithful Catholics around the world.

Italian Parishioners say last Monday that while they were praying, the statue of the Virgin, placed there 40 years ago, began to emanate light from it. Once the Italians turned off the light and confirmed it first impressions, they started to spread the news to the people and quickly became global furor.

This light is impossible to be photographed. Many witnesses claimed that “several professional photographers have tried to photograph the phenomenon with the best equipment, but they have achieved.”

The Catholic Church still does not confirm the legitimacy of the miracles that occurred more than 30 years ago in Medjugorje, but in 2010 formed a committee to study the facts.
