Today was carried out a meeting to establish new calendar for the litigation Chevron

This morning, Ecuadorian Attorney General, Diego Garcia Carrion, participated in the first meeting to set a new procedural calendar in the arbitration between Chevron-Texaco and Ecuador.

The meeting was established once the Arbitral Tribunal cancelled the hearing  scheduled fromJanuary 20 to February 7 in the U.S. capital.

The litigation Chevron III, is to clarify the demand brought by Ecuador against the oil company for the alleged violation of the Bilateral Treaty of protection of investment (BIT), signed with the United States.

This lawsuit was filed when Chevron was sentenced by the Ecuadorian justice to pay 9,500 million dollars for the environmental damage left in the Amazon of the Andean country during the time that crude was extracted in the region between 1964 and 1992. But the oil company refuses to pay the amount.
