Leopoldo López surrenders to Venezuelan justice

Leopoldo Lopez, opposition leader, surrendered this Tuesday at Venezuelan security forces and would be brought to justice where he is required, after being accused as responsible for the three deaths during protests in the oil country.

Lopez walked voluntarily towards a tanker of Venezuelan security forces that were guarding an opposition concentration and entered the vehicle to be brought to justice, according to witnesses who saw the fact.

Affirming that he did to avoid acts of violence, Lopez discarded march as it was intended.

He added that he had “to a corrupt justice” and mentioned that if his arrest allows “definitely awakening of Venezuela and that for Venezuelans who want change, it will be worth my imprisonment.”

Authorities opened a process against López for his alleged responsibility in the violent incidents that occurred on February 12 at the capital after a massive march of college students and opponents against the government of Nicolas Maduro.
