Movistar Employees request hearing with Correa
Movistar workers of Ecuador requested a hearing to President Rafael Correa for Monday, in order to express their concern about the project that would reduce from 15% to 3% the percentage of profits they currently receive.
Employees delivered to the President a letter that said: “People think we earn a lot of money and insult us of stealing the money of all Ecuadorians or envy us for having a decent job”.
Correa said that the distribution of profits allows companies to supplement the salaries of their employees, but with that procedure “they are unlawfully increasing the profits of the telephone companies”.
In the letter, Movistar workers added that no one of them earns the basic salary of $ 340 a month and also denied receiving millions in profits.
“Mr. President, we’re not millionaires, we are middle class Ecuadorians ” workers highlighted.
