Private ports hope for a fair competition with Posorja

Posted On 28 May 2016

The private ports that operate in Guayaquil prefer not to talk about the impact the Posorja´s port operation would have, port that was allowed to be built through the Executive Order 1060, issued this past Wednesday.

First they believe it is appropriate to know with accuracy the document´s extent “and what conditions, exemptions and preferences will be granted”.

That is what Iliana González, president of the Ecuador´s Private Terminal Port Association, said in an interview via e-mail with this Diary, the EPTPA, or Asotep (for its acronym in spanish), associates seven terminals of international traffic and one of cabotage.

“The Order´s annexes have not been published, if these do not have any kind of preferences about what Contecon, as well as the private terminal ports have, the free and fair competition is what matters and that should be the rule in this sector, under the judgement of complementarity and fair competition and without adverse conditions for the investors…”, said González (I).
