Neisi goes to the podium

At the age of 19, Neisi Dajomes closed an unforgettable year by winning the silver medal in the 75kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships in the American city of Anaheim (California).
Lidia Velentín from Spain was left with the gold medal in boot (118 kg), clean (140 kg) and total (258 kg), while Dajomes was awarded the silver medal in the 3 modalities (108, 132 and 240) . The third place -bronce- went to the French Gaelle Nayo Ketchanke (103, 134 and 237).
Since the beginning the Amazonian presented an impeccable presentation to lift 103 kg in its first attempt to start, and then increase 3 kilos to its second presentation (106 kg) and the third close with 108.
Neisi began the account with 128 kg and then move to 132 kg, but in his third attempt for 135 kg failed, so she was left with the silver medal.
However, her points also gave her silver in the Olympic total with 240 kg, second only to the Spanish Lidia Valentín, 32 years old and triple Olympic medalist.
Dajomes celebrated her silver as if it were a gold medal. After making her last attempt, she jumped with excitement and during the award ceremony displayed an Ecuadorian flag on her head.
In this way, Dajomes closes a successful year in her discipline and will continue, in 2018, within the Olympic cycle looking for a place in the next Olympic Games. from Tokyo, where she hopes to give Ecuador the third Olympic medal (previously it was obtained by Jefferson Pérez).
On the other hand, in the masculine branch of the same event, in the category of 85 kilos, the Cuban Arley Meléndez Pérez, competing for Chile, won the first place with a total of 378 kilograms (175 in start and 203 in cleanliness) , followed by the Polish Krzysztof Zwaryz (359 kg: 162 and 197) and the Italian Antonino Pizzolato (358 kg: 162 and 196).
Change of category
About a year ago, Dajomes was changed category and went from 69 kg to 75 and already has a lot of achievements for the country in different international tournaments.
That decision included an effort and greater sacrifice, since she had to accommodate herself to his new category. Lifting more weight forced to change the diet and the way of work to which she was accustomed.
At the youth level this year she lifted the triple world championship in Tokyo (Japan). Then she also reached three gold medals in the Pan American Championship in the United States. In the recent Bolivarian Games Santa Marta, Colombia, she won three silver medals.
Neisi will arrive to the country in the next few hours and will spend a few days with her family before returning to concentrate with her team for what is coming on 2018. (I)
