In Manabí, 8.5 tons of cocaine were seized in 2017

In 2017, drug seizures in Manabi were concentrated in the coastal profile and in the interior of the province. The work developed by the Police and the Navy allowed the confiscation of approximately 8.5 tons of cocaine.
The operation called ‘End of the year’, carried out on December 30 of the year that ended, resulted in the confiscation of 774 kilos of cocaine in the rural area of the Olmedo canton, in Manabí. It was the last blow to drug trafficking in the province.
A previous shipment was detected in the Villamarina sector, northwest of Manta, where cocaine was located inside 27 suitcases, before also in the canton San Vicente, north of the province, a plane was stopped when it was intended to transport 582 kilos of alkaloid. According to Pablo Aguirre, head of the National Directorate of Narcotics of the Police, the drug seized on December 30 was going to be transported by sea. (I)
