CNE denied the registration of a new organization

The secretary of AP proposes the integration of militancy. It even proposes that there be accountability within the political movement. Debugging or rupture. The afternoon and night of Tuesday, the plenary session of the National Electoral Council (CNE) denied the registration of the Partido Revolución Ciudadana. The counselors argued that the request did not meet the established standards, since both the slogan and the logo belong to the Alianza PAIS movement.

A part of the militancy related to former President Rafael Correa continued with the disaffiliation process, after the decision of the Electoral Contentious Court (TCE), which ignored the directive commanded by Gabriela Rivadeneira.

According to the registry of the electoral body, the movement has a base of 1,400,000 adherents. Ricardo Zambrano, executive secretary of the movement, pointed out that only AP has changed the discourse of certain actors who did not have the tolerance to accept a new political leadership, which does not agree with things that were done in the past.

He stressed that at this stage it is necessary to integrate militancy. To this end, he pointed out the importance of permanent political education and the promotion of accountability processes, especially in the interior. Within the Assembly, legislator Kharla Chávez added that the disaffiliation of her ex-partners does not mean disagreeing, for example, with issues related to citizen demands.

For their part, the correístas, like Assemblyman Franklin Samaniego, no longer think of PAIS but of the new political movement, called the Citizen Revolution. While the legislator Soledad Buendía justifies the disaffiliation: “we feel disappointed.” But he warned that now the priority is to promote the No in the consultation and referendum.

On the other hand, PAIS also has the main objective of boosting the Yes in the process of February 4. For example, Daniel Mendoza, co-chairman of the President, clarified that the consultation corrects the mistakes made so that the institutions function as they should.

On the refusal of the CNE to the new movement, the request analyzed came from Saulo Raúl Cuesta Vinueza, who presented the inscription on December 14 with the name Revolución Ciudadana (PRC).

Virgilio Hernandez, Moreno’s former official, described the action as a “gross maneuver” that aims to prevent the participation of adherents to the correísmo. He added that the citizen who entered the order has a working relationship with the Pichincha Prefecture. “This gentleman has nothing to do with the Citizen Revolution (RC) movement.” He stressed that the request was entered on December 29, but Ana Marcela Paredes, vice president of the CNE, said that the plenary has not received the request of Citizen Revolution. “There is freedom to choose the name, as long as there is no attempt against the principles of a third party” (I)
