‘Minuto final’ (Final Minute) the film recorded entirely with drones, made the official launch of his trailer yesterday through the social networks of the production.

The short film, written and directed by Luis Avilés, is a thriller of police suspense, which tells the story of Leonardo, a policeman who faces the difficulties of doing justice despite corruption within the police forces.

Avilés says that the idea of filming a film totally with drones was born four years ago. “We wanted to produce a feature film project with few resources and at the same time that is visually dynamic for the viewer”.

Recording with drones demanded that the scenes be filmed in sequence, so the production team had to think about a 360-degree set and everything that would not normally be seen with a ground camera. In addition, the drone’s battery life time was 10 minutes, he adds, so they only recorded two scenes per day.

The cast is composed by Ricardo Velástegui, in the leading role; Alberto Rivera and David Saavedra as antagonists; Noralma Reeves and Ariel Zöller as cast characters.

Velástegui comments that the project of shooting with drones was a challenge, “because most of the scenes were sequence and we did not have the cut, so we had to create that 5-minute scene that is practically theater and this makes them change a bit resources, the codes and although we are used to working in theater, we also had to work in some way for the cameras, “he explains.

On the other hand, Zöller says they also had scenes with great difficulty, “for example when we recorded with motorcycles we had to be literally watching out of the corner of the eye where the drone was to be at par and not go long or fall behind.”

In addition, the actors had to learn to drive motorcycles, handle weapons and martial arts. “We had to learn to drive a motorcycle and an Israeli weapons technique course. I think that as an actor, the more tools you have to offer as an artist, the better because I believe that the actor must know how to do everything “, Velástegui points out.

‘Minuto final’ featured a DGI Phantom 4 drone for the 90% recording of the film, 2% was made with a Mavic Pro and 8% with career drones that have no brand because they are built here in Guayaquil, they bring pieces from different parts of the world and an expert puts it together “, explains Avilés.

The budget for the film project was $ 60,000, including marketing. The financing was thanks to private funds.

Next August 3 will be the premiere of the film in Quito and Guayaquil, in all the cinemas. (E)
