Seven models participated, residents in the cantonal headwaters, who wore skirts, scarves, shoes and hats. The clothing is characteristic of women from the communities of Pujilí, Saquisilí, Latacunga and Salcedo. “The purpose of the event was to make the clothing of indigenous women visible. We design clothes without losing their identity, “said Cumali.

Three clothing lines were presented at the fashion show. The first consisted of shawls made from alpaca wool and cloth. The garments had handmade embroidery and sequins. Others had ornaments at the base of the scarf.

The second exit of the queens of the parishes Poaló, Zumbahua and Latacunga consisted of a line of shawls elaborated in silk. The brightly colored garments had a detail on the neck. Cumali indicated that the artisans made a tied or handmade fabric in the shape of a heart, in addition to embroidering flowers of different colors and sizes.

“Flowers and women have a symbiotic connection. We reflect that part of nature that unites women with the countryside or the moors, “said Cumali. The last presentation of the models was at the start in bridal gowns. The proposal consists of three designs that are tied in the neck in the form of heart and small details that were embroidered by hand.

To make them stand out, they were made with gold and silver colored threads. Another design was pearl, sequined and embroidered a heart. Different designs were presented depending on the sector to which the girls belong. “In some communities they wear hats, embroidered or plain blouses, scarves and straight skirts. The dress is accompanied by necklaces. In other areas there are girls who wear anacos and wipes, “said Ana María Morales, Miss Patronato.
