Cecilia Calderón, Poly Ugarte, Pierina Correa, Leonardo Escobar and Alfredo Adum, candidates for the Prefecture of Guayas, this Wednesday participated in a debate organized by the Casa Grande University and the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil.

Of the 20 candidates for that dignity, the organizers invited seven, two of whom, Carlos Luis Morales and Juana Vallejo, did not attend the meeting. The subjects were diverse and the questions, in their majority, elaborated by the students of the center of higher education.

The candidates coincided in making effective the promise of politicians regarding “turning their eyes to the field”. Ugarte, from the CREO movement, for example, proposes to create a platform for farmers and artisans to offer and sell their products abroad.

Escobar, of the Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelente party, plans to build food banks to reduce the costs of the basic food basket, as well as prioritize the generation of employment.

For Calderón, of Juntos Podemos, it is necessary to restore the road system of Guayas and build neighborhood roads that allow the transportation of the products. Correa, of Social Commitment, on the other hand, promises to manage the repeal of Decree 449 that, according to her, reduced the incomes of decentralized and autonomous governments to 12.5%.

Adum, from the Fuerza Ecuador party, instead proposed the construction of an international airport in Taura to integrate several cantons of Guayas and other nearby provinces. “Guayas will be a regional leader.”

The five candidates also presented their proposals on issues of employment, citizen security, technology, gender equality, environment, tourism, among others. (I)
