Daniel Avecilla, the new President of the Association of Municipalities of Ecuador (AME), said that they have not entirely eliminated state subsidies for municipalities. “There will be resources for the updating of land registers, emerging issues and investment research”, he said.
Avecilla (Alianza País), noted that the key issues of his administration will be to give training and technical assistance to the 221 municipalities.
About the Zoning and Land Management Law, he said that mayors will not be affected. “It may not exist municipalities of first and second category, but everyone should have equal conditions”, he said.
