Agreement to encourage the reactivation of the shrimp farming sector is approved

Posted On 08 May 2016
Plans for productive reactivation of the shrimp farming sector in the provinces of Manabi and Esmeraldas, the most affected by the earthquake of April 16, were set in an agreement issued yesterday by the Ministry of Environment.
The document contains provisions to expedite the cleanup of the pools and other structures that have been ruined by the natural phenomenon.

Reportedly, the Ministry of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (Magap) will work in conjunction with this sector to define the list of shrimp farms that will be assisted. The owners of these establishments must request authorization, sending the list of machinery to be used and the work schedule with deadlines and compensation plans if necessary.

Possible damage or adverse effects that have been caused to the mangrove ecosystem will also be assessed (I).
