Agricultural organizations announce march on April 18 in Quito

Social, montubio, indigenous and agricultural organizations, such as Fenocin and Conagro, formed the “Agricultural Unit” to make known what they call “the lack of attention in the agricultural sector.”

They mentioned shortcomings in marketing issues, timely loans, land restructuring and others. Guillermo Rosero, president of the National Confederation of Agricultural Organizations (Conagro), indicated a supposed abandonment of the agricultural sector and the lack of a public agricultural policy.

For this reason, they announced that on April 18 they will hold a march in Quito. They plan to meet with the President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, to present some proposals in order to reactivate the sector.

Among the proposals are: eradication of rural poverty by building public policies aimed at agricultural development; construction of governance from civil society; support for the fight against corruption and recovery of “looted values”, among others. (I)
