Al-Assad Urges his Army to Crush the Rebels

Aleppo rebels prepare for battle
This Wednesday the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad urged his military forces to step up the fight against the rebels while the UN reported a large escalation in the civil war with the regime using warplane to fire on opposition fighters in the battle for Aleppo.
According to international observers the situation in Syria is dire, since the regime is using warplanes, while the city suffers an intense fighting has raged for 12 days. The government forces are using heavy weapons, mortars and even tanks to crush the rebel opposition in Aleppo.
Al-Assad has not talked in public since a bomb killed four of his top security officials on July 18, during a rebel attack in Damascus. His current whereabouts are still unknown and its not clear if he is in the capital. AV
