Alfredo Intriago Sues José Francisco Cevallos
Posted On 09 Feb 2011
“He told me that I am a thief, then he has to prove I am a thief and a criminal,” said President of the Referees Association, Alfredo Intriago who in the final game of Liga against Emelec received insults from the goalkeeper José Francisco Cevallos.
With this background, Intriago filed a civil lawsuit and criminal charges against the player who, he says, will set a precedent in Ecuadorian football. At the same time, the judge said he would not accept the apologies of Cevallos as they offended not only him but his mother. If the court resolution is favorable, the Liga goalkeeper could pay up to USD 200 thousand to Intriago.
