Allegations before the OAS of President’s abuses continue
On Friday January 18, presidential candidates Alvaro Noboa (PRIAN) and Nelson Zavala (PRE) filed formal complaints to the observer mission of the Organization of American States (OAS).
Both candidates complained about the abusive use given to the television network seized by the State, which transmit broadcasts in all scheduling areas attacking opposition candidates and promoting the candidacy of Rafael Correa. Mauricio Rodas (SUMA) and Guillermo Lasso (CREO), who were the first to join the observers.
The businessman and presidential candidate for the party PRIAN, Alvaro Noboa, also complained trough a letter addressed to the OAS, the use of State public property for promoting the President Correa’s election campaign. This constitutes a distinct disadvantage to all other candidates participating in these elections, which is a clear “violation of the principles of the Inter-American Democratic Statement.”
Noboa himself delivered the letter to the Mission. In addition, he let the media know about it during his visit to Quito.
