Current president of the United States, Barack Obama will take office for the last time, beginning his second term this weekend.
Today Obama paid his official oath in the White House at 11:55 local time (16:55 GMT), in compliance with the constitutional requirement that states do so on January 20. This event will not be public and will be attended by family members, close associates and media. However, the President repeated the procedure tomorrow with a public ceremony in the Capitol.
It is expected that 800,000 people come to Washington for the event, a figure lower than the record 1.8 million recorded in 2009.
Obama won the 2008 presidential election to become the first black president of the United States. Also this is the first time in history that Latin Americans accounted for 10% of the electorate and 70% of that number voted for his reelection.
