Alvaro Noboa Demands President Rafael Correa his Resignation
This afternoon, Ecuadorian businessman Alvaro Noboa held a press conference where he sent a message to President Rafael Correa, asking him to resign from his position as head of state.
“(…) The political persecution against me continues and he wishes to cover all the country’s problems by turning me into a scapegoat. His aides are creating an atmosphere of persecution (…) “, stated the businessman.
The PRIAN leader mentioned again how much the IRS is charging to his company, Industrial Bananera Noboa, which would cause its bankruptcy and would directly affect his future presidential candidacy for the elections of 2013.
“(…) They threaten to forbid me of leaving the country. I am threatened in all possible ways. I am an international businessman and for the sake of Ecuador I have to travel constantly (…) “
Noboa said the government controls the courts, the press, industrialists, political opponents, wants to bury the political party, the CNE, based on fear.
(…) So in the strongest terms, for the sake of this election, I ask you to resign as President of the Republic.
The IRS reported that the legal proceedings against Bananera Noboa are closed, once the Court of Justice decided not admit the objection filed by the company. The IRS also indicated that no other procedural issue will be admited and the debt remains firm in $98,261.508.
