Alvaro Noboa will return to Ecuador
The leader of the Partido Renovador Institucional Accion Nacional (PRIAN), Alvaro Noboa Ponton, assured today in an interview with journalist Diego Oquendo of Vision Radio Station, that next week he will return to Ecuador to register his candidacy and start his electoral campaign.
Noboa said that the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) cannot prevent his candidacy, because there are no legal actions against him, nor an enforceable sentence.
The businessman stated that if the Council keeps on denying his candidacy, it will be shown, one more time “the monumental political persecution carried by Rafael Correa against him” and that “The regulations of the National Electoral Council, as everything it does, are dedicated to him.”
“They want to prevent my candidacy and have me imprisoned in Ecuador with an illegal prohibition to leave the country,” said Noboa. In spite of that, “I’ll return next week,” he added.
Noboa announced that if he is not allowed to run for president, his political party, PRIAN, will participate for the National Assembly elections, making emphasis on the huge popular support he received in past elections. (MZ)
