`Amazonia Vive´ suspended popular consultation about Yasuní
Posted On 22 May 2014
The Group `Amazonía Vive´ suspended its popular consultation draft to strengthen the Government argument of exploiting the Yasuní National Park.
Yofre Poma, former mayor of Lago Agrio, ensures that oil exploitation will help the development of the Amazon.
He also noted that the group managed to collect more than a million signatures. This, according to Poma, would demostrate that the country is more connected with the Government’s plan than with Yasunidos plan . Nevertheless, `Amazonía Vive´ will notsubmit these signatures to the National Electoral Council (CNE for its spanish acronym).
