An unemployed Ecuadorian in Spain won the jackpot in lottery
The popular award “Gordo” of the Spanish lottery in Christmas changed the life of an unemployed Ecuadorian immigrant after winning 400,000 Euros (about $ 527.565) by one tenth of the number 76,058 given to her by a friend.
The winner would not give her name or other details that allow identification, but told EFE that the 400,000 Euros that she won will let her change her life. “I had nothing and now, look, a fluke,” said the lucky winner in front of the doors of the lottery offices.
The unidentified winner said she will send part of the sum in Euros to his family in Ecuador, and will also share it with his sister-in-law and “all the people of Spain who helped when she needed it.”
The fortunate Ecuadorian is local resident of La Florida de LHospitalet de Llobregat, in Barcelona, a neighbourhood that in the sixties welcomed immigrants from other parts of Spain. In recent years, many families mostly from Latin America have also joined the neighbourhood.
