Angel Cordero: “I am the real hero”

The current situation of this Dominican of 32-years-old would have been different if he spoke fluid english. Because it was him and not Ramsey who arrived first to help Amanda Berry, and knocked down the door that kept them locked-in.

Cordero narrated during an interview with daily El Pais, that on Monday afternoon, his neighbor, Aurora Martí, told him that there was a girl crying in the house across the street.

“I asked her if something in the House  was burning and she told me no, that she had been kidnapped 10 years ago, then, I tried to open the door, I couldn’t because it was hooked with a chain, so I started kicking the bottom, until it was broken”, said Cordero.

“He meant to rescue them but he repented.” And yes, he called 911, but much later than Berry did,”said Aurora Martí, who clarified that it was another neighbor who gave  the phone to the young girl.

“If  the person who broke the door is being called a hero, well that’s me”, Cordero said with a smile. “If the black guy wants to play hero, it’s his problem.”

Cordero, should return on Monday to drive his truck, while Ramsey is a national hero who is now sponsored by   McDonald’s, because of the free advertising he gave them when commenting that he was eating one of their burgers when he heard the cries of Amanda Berry.
