In a ceremony held yesterday at the Old Trafford Stadium, Ecuadorian soccer player Antonio ‘Toño’ Valencia was named Best Player of the Season for Manchester United.

Valencia also has been chosen by his peers as the best player of the season, received two additional awards as the best player chosen by United fans and an award for the Best Goal of the Year, awarded by the Technical Director, Sir Alex Ferguson.
“It’s a great professional and has the qualities we love in our game. I think that’s why the other players have given him this award, “said Ferguson.
Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes were also candidates for best player of the season. Both strategists recognized the contribution of the Ecuadorian this season, despite his two serious injuries.
