Archbishop questioned policy of contraceptives use
During his homily at the Chrism Mass, the Archbishop of Guayaquil, Antonio Arregui, urged priests and faithful Catholics to rebel against the abuses that seek to corrupt the youth.
This request is because last Monday, it was approved the access and availability of contraceptives. Now, the Ministry of Health is allowed to deliver free “morning-after” pills and other contraceptive methods.
“As citizens, brothers, if you have a healthy and Christian conscience, you must oppose these abuses that with the money of all of us are corrupting the youth”, said Arregui.
The Archbishop noted that with the delivery of contraceptive methods, the love between a man and a woman is dehumanized and underlines that this legislation has been adopted on March 25 which is the same day were Ecuador celebrates the “Day of the Unborn Child”, decreed by former president Alfredo Palacio.
In this framework, he called on clerics to commit to spread Biblical teachings among parishioners as it is “their responsibility as servants of God.”
