Around 3000 metalworkers from air conditioner factories of Rio Grande and Ushuaia would remain unemployed because the agreements will fall.
Antonio Caló, head of the union and General Secretary of the CGT, told the Clarin newspaper: “Of course we are concerned, there are many people that will end their employment contract.”
On the other hand, Oscar Martinez, General Secretary of the Rio Grande Branch of the Metal Workers Union (UOM for its Spanish acronym) and local deputy, said: “We have no layoffs or suspensions, there are only finalizing contracts. The fear is that these contracts do not have continuity as in other years.”
