Assembly creates a civilian body of presidential protection

The plenary of the National Assembly has approved, with 73 votes in favor and 61 against, the motion of Assemblywoman Doris Soliz, who asked to address the partial objection made by then-President Rafael Correa to the Code of Citizen Security and Public Order Entities , Which included the creation of a civilian body of presidential protection, which is responsible for the security of the President of the Republic and senior officials.
Correa sent, before finalizing his mandate, observations to seven articles of that legal body, that was the last one approved in the previous legislative period. After the vote on Monday, the Security Entities Code will come into effect when it is published in the Official Register (I).
