Audit Commission Sets Guidelines to Investigate COFIEC Case

Silvia Salgado on COFIEC case
Last Wednesday the Audit Commission defined four fundamental aspects to investigate the case of Gaston Duzac, an Argentinean businessman that received an irregular credit by COFIEC bank.
The first process would investigate the loan request until its delivery. The second step will look into the disbursement until the expiration of the credit.
The third stage seeks to recover the loan, while the fourth is in charge of giving a follow up of all the links that COFIEC has with seized companies that offered guarantees to other credits.
According to Silvia Salgado, president of the Audit Commission, they only have data about COFIEC, Rocafuerte Insurance, Pedro Delgado, the Trust, Central Bank, and the Bank Superintendency, “there are also contradictions between one institution and another,” said Salgado.
The question still remains, ‘Why Pedro Delgado recommended Antonio Bunay to a group of agricultural investors where Gaston Duzac was?’. AV
