Barcelona beats Emelec after 5 years in Monumental Stadium
After five years, Barcelona Sporting Club defeated Emelec 2-0 at the Monumental stadium. Fans, players and technical team celebrated with euphoria after the last ”clásico del astillero” of 2011.
Vinicio Angulo and Damian Diaz made the 25,000 spectators who witnessed the game scream “Goal!”. The score changed at minute 15, when after a corner kick, Matias Oyola gave the ball to Miguel Ibarra. He passed the ball to Angulo in the center and he rose it to kick it with his head and score in Wilmer Zumba’s arch.
During the second half, the development of the game changed dramatically. Edison Mendez, Marcos Caicedo and David Quiroz entered the game with the blue shirt and cornered barcelona.
The second goal came when Bryan de la Torre took the ball, gave it to Diaz and, after eluding Fernando Gaibor, he kicked the ball from the outside the area to achieve victory for Barcelona.
