Posted On 20 Nov 2011
The conservative Popular Party (PP) won the general elections today in Spain with an absolute majority, according to a survey conducted in the polls.
The PP won with 43.5% of the votes, while the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) got 30%.
The “Political change” Mariano Rajoy leads “won tonight in Spain with a large majority,” said Ana Mato, Deputy Secretary of People’s Party organization and director of the election campaign of the PP.
Today’s elections were held in a severe economic crisis, with almost five million unemployed, with little growth and Spanish debt under great pressure in financial markets. “A new stage will begin tomorrow where the only goal will be to overcome the crisis and unemployment,” Mato said.
