Barcelona Defeats Cuenca and Remain as Leader

Yesterday, Barcelona Sporting Club celebrated a 4-1 triumph against Deportivo Cuenca at the Monumental Stadium, obtaining 3 points that places the team as leader on the standings of the National Championship.
Jayro Campos, Frickson Erazo, Roosevelt Oyola, Renzo Revoredo and Luis Caicedo were the major absences of Barcelona because of their injuries.
Twenty minutes after the game started, Damian Diaz opened the scoreboard with a powerful shot over a mistake made by Edder Fuertes. The first half was being controlled by the local team when Holger Matamoros scored a second goal with a free kick at minute 36.
During the second half, Michael Arroyo scored the third goal for Barcelona at minute 58, and in minute 62, Narciso Mina scored the fourth, becoming the league’s top scorer with 21 goals.
Taking advantage of an oversight from Barcelona, Julio Angulo scored the only goal for Deportivo Cuenca at minute 73.
The yellow team has 25 points, the same as Liga de Quito and Macara. However, bullfighter’s team has a better goal difference of 10, against the 5 from Liga and 3 from Macara.
