Bashar al-Assad and Alexander Orlov

The Syrian government has denied any comments regarding the readiness of president Bashar al-Assad to step down. This claims came after Russia’s ambassador to France, Alexander Orlov said that al-Assad’s was prepared to give up leadership.

With the increased hostilities in the capital Damascus the country is sliding into further chaos. Orlov spoke a day after Moscow vetoed a Western-backed UN resolution to pushed Assad’s government to end the war.

According to Orlov, al-Assad is willing to work on a transition of power, but in a civilized way. However Syria state TV quickly informed that the interview was taken out of context. AV
