Bin Laden is Replaced by Ayman Al-Zawahri

The Egyptian military veteran, Ayman Al-Zawahri is the new leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda after the death of Osama Bin Laden. The announcement was made this Thursday in an Islamist web page. Al-Zawahri promised Al-Qaeda members that he will maintain the campaign against the United States and its allies.

Zawahri was born in Egypt, and from some time he had been al-Qaeda number two. He was the right successor for the terrorist responsible for the attacks of September 11, who was later killed by USA commandos in Pakistan 45 days ago. The United States has offered a reward of $25 million for any information that leads to his capture.

However many perceive Zawahri as a pale shadow of Osama Bin Laden since he lacks charisma and presence. There are those that believe that Zawahri is a good leader. (AV)
