Brazil warns Ecuador of a case of corruption in the Correa regime
Ecuadornews:
Iván Granda, Anticorruption Secretary of the Presidency, informed that Brazilian authorities announced him about an alleged case of corruption related to the regime of President Rafael Correa.
Through a statement released on Thursday, February 28, the Secretariat of Communication (Secom), reported that they are “irregularities of payments over $ 9 million,” within the Multipurpose Baba and Carrizal-Chone projects, which were in charge of the construction company OAS SA, which received an emergency hiring process amounting to $ 130.1 million during 2007 and 2013.
The statement warned that Brazilian authorities ratified their commitment to provide support from the State for the investigation of the case. “This fact, like all allegations of corruption that have arisen at the initiative of the National Government, should be investigated by the State Attorney General’s Office in due process,” the document added.
Granda met with Sergio Moro, Minister of Justice of that country, who ratified his commitment to support actions against corruption in Ecuador. In that space, the formation of the International Expert Committee against Corruption, announced days ago by the President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, was discussed.
On Tuesday, Ruth Palacios, Attorney General (e), made a trip to Brazil to talk with the local authorities about the Odebrecht case. The official informed this afternoon that she met with the Brazilian prosecutor, Raquel Dodge, to “strengthen cooperation with the Ombudsman’s Office on Odebrecht cases and international criminal assistance.” (I)
