CARLOS VIVES-ECUADORTIMES

Colombian singer Carlos Vives enthusiastically welcomed the Illary recognition given by the Latin America Green Awards and congratulated Guayaquil on this initiative, which last week recognized the top ten eco-sustainable proposals.

Vives was awarded to push the initiative After the Pearl of America, which seeks to develop –with a sustainable view- on the life quality of the inhabitants of Santa Marta, Colombian city where he was born.

“Thank you for calling attention to our work, Im very happy because you open up to us many possibilities. I am among those who think that in these times is a duty that citizens inquire and be part of the solution to many problems facing our communities, “Vives said in a video.

The recognition the singer received is intended for people with extensive experience, whose influence in the Latin American community contributes to sustainable development in the region.

And the prize´s name, Illary, comes from a word that means brightness, new dawn in Quichua.

The proposal Vives promotes has achieved to include Santa Marta on the initiative of Emerging and Sustainable Cities of the Inter American Development Bank.
