Catherine Zeta Jones Checks into Mental Institution
After a year of supporting her husband, the Academy Award winner Michael Douglas, with his throat cancer recovery, actress Catherine Zeta Jones checked into a mental health facility.
Jones was seeking treatment for Bipolar Disorder II, which causes irritability and mood swings several times a day.
“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder. She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films,” a friend of the actress said.
According to a People Magazine article, the actress spent five days at the mental facility (which remains unidentified).
Catherine is preparing for her upcoming films “Playing the Field” and “Lay the Favourite”.
