CELAC and ECLAC plan a regional development strategy
The Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC for its Spanish acronym) held a meeting yesterday in Quito in order to plan a regional development strategy for the next five years.
Alicia Barcenas, Executive Secretary of ECLAC, together with the Chancellor of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, said the purpose of the meeting was “to structure a support strategy” on poverty and inequality, climate change and environment, development finance, science and technology, and infrastructure in the region.
The treated points constitute a proposal for Ecuador under the Pro tempore Presidency of the Community.
The officials said the meeting was to set a baseline from which is expected to plan regional development.
